Week Eleven To-Do List

  1.  Check out the research process resources, including Jason's short video and the resources from Hartness Library.
  2. Decide on a research topic. 
  3. Use the Flipgrid video Links to an external site. discussion to tell us about your research topic.  Be sure to give your classmates feedback on their topics as well. 
  4. Watch the 5 C's of Critical Consuming video Links to an external site. attached to this week's module.  It may help in your research process.
  5.  Evaluating Sources:  Look at the links below.  The first gives some guidelines for evaluating websites.  Then, examine at least two of the other websites linked to this week's module.  They are all bogus websites, not suitable for research.  How can you tell?  Do your work on the assignment attached to this week's module.

  6. Once you have a suitable research question, begin taking notes and gathering information.  Organize the information in a logical manner.
  7. Submit your Research Question & List of Sources.  *There is a video on next week's module that helps explain research questions if you are having trouble.

Research Paper Guidelines:

  • 8-10 pages
  • MLA format (APA is acceptable if you are comfortable with it and the topic is appropriate)
  • clear, college-appropriate research topic
  • formal tone
  • well-paraphrased, correctly cited, few direct quotes
