Academic Honesty Standards
The Community College of Vermont is committed to academic honesty and scholarly integrity. All members of the college community are expected to uphold these standards. The following standards are adapted from the Community College of Vermont's Academic Honesty Policy, revised 2012. (See the full policy for complete standards.) These are the standards that you will be held to as a member of the class.
-
Academic dishonesty includes (but is not limited to): Plagiarism, which is defined as the presentation of the language, ideas, artwork or thoughts of another person as one’s own work.
-
Do not use copyright protected images for your projects without permission of the creator or myself.
-
Cite all sources. Keep a document for each project that contains links to your sources.
-
Any student found to be dishonest in academic work may be subject to disciplinary action, which could include suspension or dismissal.
-
Any member of the academic community is encouraged to bring forward questions and suspicions of academic dishonesty to me or their advisor.
-
If I believe you have violated the policy for academic dishonest I will first discuss these concerns with you, and if appropriate, with my academic coordinator.
-
You will receive a zero for the work that involved plagiarism and will not be able to make it up.
-
The College acknowledges that the discussion I have with a student and/or coordinator may result in satisfactory resolution of the my concerns and therefore may not require further action.
-
If I decide to submit an academic incident report I will notify the course academic coordinator.
-
I will submit an academic incident report for any incident in which the academic dishonesty affects your final course grade and include the actionable information in your final course evaluation.
-
I have full authority to determine the effect that the academic dishonesty has on your academic standing in the course. This may include assigning a grade of F (or NP) on a particular assignment or assigning a grade of F (NP) for the entire course.
