This is what I know and have to say about the software you should use in this class

The Microsoft Office programs (full version) are free and the download site is in the content of this post.

Software: Microsoft (MS) Office is required for this course. . This software is available to CCV students free of charge through Office 365 online or by a download of MS Office. Information on how to download the MS Office suite can be found here under Student Materials.

System Requirements: The MS Office suite can be installed on Windows 10 PC and Macintosh computers and laptops. It cannot be installed on a Chromebook. MS Office on a Macintosh computer does not include all of the features supported by Windows and there are significant menu differences.

You will not be able to complete your assignments if you are trying to use Office 365 online. This is the program accessible from the Outlook page (your CCV email) and the free program that comes with a lot of computers. It is a very simple version of Office and is missing many important features.

If you have difficulty in acquiring or accessing this resource for your course, please contact your advisor or financial aid counselor.

If you are using a Chromebook or a PC with "free" Microsoft Office, you will not be able to complete all of the class work, as many of the assignments require the full (downloaded) version of Office. The "Office 365" that can be accessed from the CCV email site has very limited capabilities. This is also the "free" Office that may have come with your computer. If you have a standard PC, you can download the full version from the CCV site. If you have a Chromebook you will need to find a standard PC to complete some of the work.

I teach using the software that CCV has in its classrooms. And that is Microsoft Office 2016 at this moment. Other versions of the Microsoft software can be used, but there may be slight differences in exact instructions. I am really only concerned with your ability to navigate through the application features and produce attractive and useful documents.

The Apple version of Office has some differences, but you should be able to find guidance for the topics being taught. The programs differ slightly in features and operation.

When you download the Office app you get to keep it after you are no longer at CCV.
