Rubric for Your Reading Responses

The Weekly Reflection Writings are meant to help you reflect on the reading and think critically about it. The writing is directed through the prompts found within the assignment. ALL written work must use MLA paper format.

**Review the Grading Rubric for this assignment, which is posted below each assignment.

  • Each entry should be between 250 and 500 words, unless otherwise stated.
  • Complete, thoughtful, and detailed entries will score higher than brief, general
    entries.
  • The reflections are averaged together to form 20% of your overall grade.
  • You should put the same effort into these assignments as you put into your other writing projects.
  •  Give yourself enough time to read, take notes, and re-read the assigned reading each week before you begin your writing reflection.
  • Use quotes from the text to support your ideas.
  • Always state the complete name of the author and title of the works you are discussing. After stating the complete name of the author once, you can refer to them by their last name.
  • Tip: Read the prompt for your weekly reflection before you do your reading.
