CLOSE READING:

Choose ONE of the following quotes from Plato's "The Allegory of the Cave"? And write about how you relate to it? Discuss an experience you've had that relates to what Plato is talking about in the quote. Remember, try to make connections between the metaphorical nature of the allegory and your own life. Be specific. Use text from elsewhere in the allegory to support your ideas.

1. "Then if he called to mind his fellow prisoners and what passed for wisdom in his former dwelling-place, he would surely think himself happy in the change and be sorry for them." 

2. "He would need then to grow accustomed before he could see things in that upper world."
