Working, Living, Learning Project: Overview & Grading Criteria

OVERVIEW

One goal of a first-year seminar (like Dimensions of Self & Society) is to help you map out your future - to think about your goals, how you’ll reach them and the skills you’ll need along the way. Dimensions students have the opportunity to use CCV’s online career exploration program, Focus2, as they develop and refine a plan.

Generally speaking, this project invites you to explore your interests, discover some of your qualities and skills (i.e. the superpowers you offer the world!), and engage in some fun and focused thinking about your future!

It is an opportunity to:

  • identify personal attributes, including values, work interests, and skills
  • explore how these attributes relate to a variety of careers and academic majors
  • begin to develop a career plan

INSTRUCTIONS

Please click on the links to the tools I've posted (FOCUS 2 Set up & Johari Window) and follow the instructions for each one. The Johari Window exercise will take some time to complete, as it involves waiting for responses from your friends, families, and co-workers. Please plan accordingly!

Once you have the results of both these tools available to you, please go to the Working, Learning & Living Reflection Sheet Download Working, Learning & Living Reflection Sheet, and craft thoughtful and thorough responses to every single prompt.

YOUR COMPLETED PROJECT WILL INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
