Week 2 - Overview and Links to Reading

The word PHOTOGRAPHY quite literally means to DRAW with LIGHT.  When we take a photograph we are capturing or recording a moment in time and the light that is reflecting off objects in the frame.  As photographers we must become students of light, not only to ensure we capture an image that is not too light (over exposed) or too dark (under exposed) but in order to communicate a particular mood, feeling or aesthetic that contributes to the story we're telling about our subjects.  The following links provide some helpful background about how the camera meter works in determining the exposure or exposure value, EV (how light or dark an image is).  You will also learn about a tool called the Histogram and how to use this graphic representation of the image to evaluate the image tonally,  and to ensure you have properly recorded important details in the brightest and darkest areas of the image.

Also, I've kept the Two Truths & A Lie post active for another week so everyone can update their original post to let us all know which of your images were true and which was a lie.  Please make sure to go back in and edit your original post to let us all know how we did.
