Week 1: Introductions and Expectations: Chapter 1 of the textbook: Understanding Sexuality
The topic for the final research paper: Choose a legal case where sex was the topic- Could be sexual harassment, could be sexual abuse, or sex trafficking. 6-9 double-spaced pages.
Week 2: Chapter 2 and 3: Theoretical Perspectives and Sex Research
Week 3: Chapters 4 & 5: Sexual Anatomy and Sex Hormones and sexual differentiation
Paper #1: Culture and Sex- Examine a Different Culture and their Perspectives on Sex.
Week 4: Chapters 6 & 7: Conception, Pregnancy, Childbirth and Contraception, and Abortion.
Sources for final paper due
Week 5: Chapter 8: Sexual Arousal
Week 6: Midterm Exam- No Discussion
Week 7: Chapters 9 & 10 and 18: Sexuality and the Lifecycle Childhood through adulthood and Sexually Transmitted Infections.
Paper #2 Due: Choose an Era and Discuss How sex was viewed. Discuss an STD during this time period as well.
Week 8: Chapter 11: Attraction, Love, and Communication.
Week 9: Chapter 12 & 13: Gender Identity; Sexual Orientation.
The draft is due for the final paper
Week 10: Chapters 14, 15, & 16: Variation of Sexual Behavior; Sexual Coercion; Sex for Sale
Week 11: Chapters 17: Sexual Disorders and Sex Therapy.
Week 12: Chapters 19 & 20: Ethics, Religion, and Sexuality; Sex and The Law; Final Research Paper Due
